Traditional handicraft industry: grass cloth weaving

Farmers in Shitian Village, Panlong Town, Rongchang County, Chongqing
wove grass cloth on the loom at their home on Sept. 12. Grass cloth
weaving is a type of traditional handicraft industry in the Panlong Town
with a 1,000-year history and has become the major source of attaining
foreign exchange now. From January to August, 2005, Panlong Town achieved
US$3 million of foreign exchange from its grass cloth exports.
