Chinanews, Aug. 31 - As the 40th anniversary of the establishment of
Tibet Autonomous Region (Sept. 1) is approaching, Qinghai-Tibet Railway,
the highest and longest railway in the world that covers the longest span
of frozen land, was connected at the highest point of Tanggula Station
5,072 meters above sea level, indicating that the railway has
successfully conquered the world's third pole and reached the roof of the
world.
After four years of construction, much of it in extremely rugged terrain,
the Qinghai-Tibet Railway Project will be ready for testing in less than
a year.
