Chinanews, Beijing, July 21 (By Jia Quanxin) - Sources from the China
National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) said that the company saw strong
growth in the first half of this year, contributing to ensuring oil and
gas supply for the domestic market.
In the first half, CNPC produced a total of 65.45 million tons of crude
oil, a year-on-year increase of 3.9%. Turnover from main businesses
reached 335 billion yuan (41.3 billion USD), 39.6% higher than the
comparable period last year.
As a backbone state-owned enterprise, CNPC has accelerated development of
main businesses and striven to build itself a resource-saving enterprise
in order to guarantee oil and gas supply for the domestic market. In the
first six months, CNPC made great efforts in exploring new oil and gas
resources, with the newly-added proven reserves accounting for 60% of the
planned volume for the entire year. It produced 65.45 million tons of
crude oil, up 3.9% year on year, and 18.4 billion cubic meters of natural
gas, increasing 20.1% over a year earlier.
At the same time, CNPC also actively participated in international
cooperation on oil and gas exploration. Its international business
reported stable development. In the first half, its output of overseas
oil and gas rose 9.6% and 8.1%, respectively, compared with the same
period last year.
